Waiting for Fidel Castro, 1959 by American photographer Burt Glinn is a series of (2) photos, each photo is 9.5" x 12” - they are gelatin silver RC press prints, authenticated by the Glinn estate with the photographer's blind stamp on recto (front of photos) margin.

The sequence is a before and after, in quick succession, two images, with Glinn masterfully capturing the facial expressions of the Cuban crowd waiting in the Main Plaza in Havana, Cuba to greet their new leader Fidel Castro.

Artist’s Bio:

Born 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, photographer Burt Glinn worked for LIFE magazine before joining Magnum photo agency. He photographed personalities throughout the 1950s and 60s, continuing to work commercially and editorially for more than five decades in the US and abroad on assignment, until his death in 2008.

The artist photographed revolutionary leader Fidel Castro entrance into Havana, Cuba, celebrity and art luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Subject matter included the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous. Glinn received numerous awards for his editorial and commercial photography.
