Club Performers, Atlanta, 1996 by Leonard Freed is an 11" x 14" vintage print, stamped on verso (back of photo) with Freed's copyright stamp and signed (back of photo) by the artist, and hand-printed by the photographer.

Club Performers captures a backstage scene of dancers in a night club. A candid shot of the dancers in a dressing room where the women enjoy a performance break. Freed captures the women's joking around and camaraderie.

Throughout Freed’s career he tackled social issues for which the photographer became well-known in the US and abroad. Freed travelled from the east coast to the Deep South, documenting notably the 1960s civil rights movement. His photo series Black in White America contributed to Freed's becoming one of the well-known “concerned photographers” in the USA in the latter half of the 20th Century.

Provenance: Freed Estate
