Painter of the imaginary, French contemporary artist Jean-Francois (Cesare) De Bus uses exploding color and cartoonish characters to render figures and objects across time. The artist's paintings and works on paper are like graphic novels waiting to be read, deciphered, and decoded. The work, 23.6" x 31.5" (sheet size), is an archival pigment print from a large painting scanned and output on 300g watercolor paper, in an edition of 25, titled and hand-signed by the artist on recto (bottom margin).
The composition of De Bus's Le Vie de Chateau (Life at the Chateau), 2021 encourages viewers to look deeper into the the overlay of bright color and historical references for metaphors on the intersection of multiple imaginary worlds. The great wheel of time - with its eternal arc of birth and death - remains a central theme in De Bus's art.

Jean-Francois (Cesare) De Bus b.1948 in France, has exhibited his paintings in both group and solo shows beginning in 1969, including at Galerie Parnasse (Paris), Galerie HauteFeuille (Paris), Paris Grand Palais, Crid'Art (Metz), among others. His work is in both private and public collections.
