Leonard Freed's stamped vintage (verso), 14" x 11", gelatin silver signed and hand-printed, Kate's Outstretched Arms, is from the Kate series, 2002. A photographer herself, model Kate remains complicit in striking dramatic poses for the nude series.

In this image Kate's arms outstretched, body embraced by the lover, body language hinting at the sacrificial in what looks like an abandoned apartment, the couple rest precariously in balance between two windows. In a pose also of abandon, Kate imparts a youthful desire for both love and freedom. Freed captures a self-possessed modern woman and a dance of sorts that Kate shares with a male partner on the edge of time.

Provenance: Freed Estate
