A documentary portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on her trip to America in the 1950s. In this black-and-white photograph Burt Glinn captures Queen Elizabeth as a young elegant member of the British royal family in her role as diplomat during her visit to New York City in 1957.

Artist’s Bio:

Born 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, photographer Burt Glinn worked for LIFE magazine before joining Magnum photo agency. He photographed personalities throughout the 1950s and 60s, continuing to work commercially and editorially for more than five decades in the US and abroad on assignment, until his death in 2008.

The artist photographed revolutionary leader Fidel Castro entrance into Havana, Cuba, celebrity and art luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Subject matter included the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous. Glinn received numerous awards for his editorial and commercial photography.
