This is a black-and-white photograph in the photographer's Cities series. Shot at dusk from a small boat on the East River, Roberta Fineberg captures a moody atmosphere, choppy water, with the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Williamsburg Bridge in the distance.

Artist's Bio:

As a photographer and multidisciplinary artist, Roberta Fineberg focuses on serendipity, experimentation, and development of ideas for her photography, video, installation, works on paper, and painting. Drawn to color and inventiveness, she explores relationships across mediums and subjects such as the ephemeral (butterfly series), stolen moments (documentary work), play, timelessness, the enduring, and significance of matter.

The artist’s selected exhibitions include: Time Gallery New York (2022), Phyllis Harriman Gallery New York studio shows (2022; 2020), CADAF online art fair (2020), Gallery122 New York pop-up group show (2018), Curate NY online group show (2013), Paris Photo: Photos, Femmes, Feminisme group show (2010). Her photography is in private and public collections, including portraits of women writers at the Bibliothèque Nationale and Bibliothèque Marguerite Durand in Paris, France.

Roberta Fineberg began her creative journey as a student in the 1980s in Paris where she exhibited photographs in public spaces and contributed writing and photography to publications starting out with The Saturday Review. Roberta Fineberg’s freelance photography was published in Le Monde, Jeune Afrique, Paris Match, L’Officiel Femme, Ms., Weltwoche, Vanguardia, among others and images licensed through stock agencies: nonstock, Jupiter, and Getty. Her photographs were used as cover art at W.W. Norton, St. Martin’s Press, Harcourt, Bookspan, Simon & Schuster, etc. Print Regional Design Annual New York (2003) awarded her for book jacket photography for If Wishes Were Horses. From 2020-2021 she was awarded 14 laurels from independent film festivals worldwide for her experimental video You Will Never Beat New York (2020).
