Leonard Freed's stamped vintage (verso), 14" x 11," gelatin silver signed print, Kate Bending, is from the Kate series, 2002. A photographer herself, model Kate remains complicit in striking dramatic poses for the nude series by Freed.

In this image Kate is supine, arms outstretched, body arched in the arms of a man, the lover. In what feels like an abandoned apartment, the couple rest precariously in balance wedged between two windows. Kate's trust in the universe, in a pose also of abandon, she imparts the youthful desire for both love of freedom. Freed captures a self-possessed modern woman and a dance of sorts that Kate shares with a male partner on the edge of time and memory.

Provenance: Freed Estate
